Intractable Pain Patients United

Intractable Pain Patients United (IPPU) welcomes Intractable Pain patients, health
care professionals and caregivers, as well as concerned family members and friends.

Why Intractable Pain Patients United is here:
  • Because we have all had struggles finding adequate care and/or even getting a diagnosis.
  • Because there is a lack of training/understanding of Intractable Pain in the medical profession. We desperately need more coursework in the healthcare field on constant, severe pain and it's many diagnoses... including IP.
  • Because legal issues such as Worker's Comp, Social Security/Disability and Medicare plague us. Our members want to share helpful tips, having survived the process.
  • Because the general public, including people who are currently in pain, do not understand the diagnosis of Intractable Pain. By pursuing public education, we hope one day Intractable Pain will become a part of people's everyday language, thus paving an easier road for each of us.
  • Because rights like those guaranteed under the California's Pain Patient's Bill of Rights need to be made a national and/or international effort--protecting patients everywhere.
  • Because it's, quite frankly, hard to find an easy way to answer the question, "How are you?" when asked by friends or loved ones--those who are trying, but cannot understand what it is to be in constant, severe pain.
